When art enters the square

Public space can make an encounter with art part of everyday life.

In a city square, people are already moving. Some are heading somewhere; others are waiting. Some know the city well, while others are seeing it for the first time. An exhibition becomes a guest in a space that no single story owns.

In 2025, Powernator was exhibited in a blue container on Kongens Nytorv beside the Royal Danish Theatre. Inside were portraits, personal stories and graphic artworks. Outside, Copenhagen continued its daily life.

Placing art in the city is an invitation, not a guarantee of a particular encounter. The form of the work and the way people can approach it both matter. Visitors should be able to look in, pause or return without knowing a specialised language beforehand.

The digital exhibition continues that invitation in another form. A portrait can have its own address, a story can be shared with a friend, and an encounter can happen far from the square where the project began.
